Dear Football Fans, Supporters, and Parents:
On behalf of the Franklin County Football Club, we would like to thank all members and supporters for helping make each and every football season a success. Back in January we closed out the 2007 season with our awards banquet at the Smith Mountain Lake 4-H Center. Starting in March we began work on the 2008 football season. We would like to encourage you to join or to renew your membership. In studying other successful programs they all seem to have some things in common. One major factor they have is a community that has a strong desire to help its team succeed and they provide the extra support that other teams might not have.
Over the last few years the Franklin County Football Club has been successful in its efforts to support the high school football program. Some of the things that the Club has been able to provide the school and the football teams include the Eagle Express I and II activity busses, the John Deere Gator, new jerseys, new game shoes, equipment upgrades on the practice field, video equipment and most recently the purchase of more equipment for the weight room. The Football Club also helps to provide a preseason picnic, after-game meals, and the end of the season banquet to honor all players, Freshmen through Varsity. Without your support none of these things would be possible. So come on, get involved and let’s show these young men (and our coaching staff) that we appreciate their hard work.
When you enter the gate on home game night you will notice some of our club members selling 50/50 tickets. The funds we raise all go to the football team (perhaps your son) to help the program get better. I heard a person say one night, "I don't gamble". Don't think of it as gambling, think of it as a donation to the football team. Later you may get lucky and win half of all the donations that come in that night when the winning ticket is announced during halftime. But, you will not win if you do not have a 50/50 ticket.
Our most ardent supporters realize the positive impact that a successful football program can have on a community. They also understand the impact that a community can have on the success of a football program. Please get in the game and help us with some of the numerous events that the Football Club sponsors throughout the year.
Our Football Club meets the first Monday of every month unless there is a holiday conflict. We meet at 7:00 PM in the Dorothy Phelps Building at FCHS. During the season we also meet with the Coach on Monday evenings after practice to review game film from the previous Friday’s game. So get off the sidelines and join us in our quest to help our team achieve its goals! We look forward to seeing you at the meetings and in the stands on Friday nights!!
